Application Note: Controlling a servo motor
with a DirectLOGIC DL05 or DL06 PLC
The
DL05 and DL06 PLCs with their counter/pulse output module (H0-CTRIO) have
two independently configurable timer/counter channels (up to 100 kHz)
and one pulse output generator (up to 25 kHz). An easy-to-use configuration
tool is included in DirectSOFT, so it’s simple to integrate with
your other application logic. For example, the DL05 PLC, using a pulse
output signal, can work with a Sanyo Denki servo drive and motor.
Servo systems come in many flavors and can be difficult to apply due
to application-specific conditions, such as physical inertia of a mass,
mechanical windup, mechanical tolerances, friction, etc. Addressing these
conditions will typically consume significantly more time and effort than
developing the basic programming for the PLC and servo controller. AutomationDirect
has simplified the programming of the PLC and H0-CTRIO module that interfaces
to the servo or stepper systems.
PLC
Compatible Servo Systems
The PB Series Servo System is one of the servo system products from Sanyo Denki. The PB Series combines a stepper motor with encoder feedback in a single package, and controls it with a hybrid stepper/servo controller. The result is a closed loop motion control system that significantly outperforms a stepper in terms of speed, yet offers high holding torque at zero rpm, which is not possible with a servo alone.
Sanyo
Denki also offers motion control integration services and PC-based multi-axis
Soft Motion Contoller products.
