Question

What is the difference between class CC fuses and Midget fuses for use in fuse blocks and fuse holders?

Answer

Class CC fuses are current limiting fuses that have one end "pinched down". CC-type holders have a restricted end that will only allow the pinched-end of CC fuse to fit into. A standard midget fuse won't fit into CC holder.

Midget fuses are defined as supplemental fuses and are not rated for current limiting. The CC style holders prevent this style of fuse from being inserted.

Refer to NEC 110-10 for more information on this subject.
