Question
If I don't have a battery in the Click, will I lose the program?
Answer
All CLICK PLC units have a non-volatile FLASH ROM to store the downloaded ladder program and project file. The FLASH ROM will retain the ladder program indefinitely. You do not have to have a battery.However, the Click data registers are stored in the SRAM (volatile) memory, that is backed up by a super capacitor. The super capacitor will hold the memory contents for a short period of time, like a power cycle.

- For C0 Clicks (page 2-9 of the Manual )
- Non-Ethernet Click -> 7 days.
- Ethernet Clicks -> 1 hour.
- 1 hour
For C2 Clicks (page 2-5 of the Manual )
If you plan on having power off the Click for longer then the super capacitor can hold data, and want to retain the data memory, you will need to use the optional battery.
