Question:

Do the AVS series valves have supressors built into them?

Answer

No, they do not.

You will have to add those externally if you require supression.

Question:

What is the difference between NPT, BPT, and BSPT threads?

Answer

THREAD STANDARDS

  • NPT stands for National Pipe Thread and is a US standard for threads. This is a tapered thread with a 60 degree threadform. The taper is 3/4" per foot.

  • BPT stands for British Pipe Threads and is a standard in many countries of the United Kingdom. This is a 55 degree untapered threadform.

  • BPST stands British Standard Pipe Taper and is the same threadform as BPT, but includes a taper. BP thread connections usually use a male tapered side and then a tapered or untapered female side.

Obviously NPT and BP threads are not compatible.

Question:

Can the BVS manifolds be wired for sinking outputs?

Answer

No, they cannot. They do not have isolated connections and all of the DC - signals connect to one common. It must be used with a sourcing signal.

Question:

What is the difference between a "semi-automatic" drain and an "automatic" drain.

Answer

The semi-automatic drain empties when pressure is relieved from the system (at night during shutdown, for example). A small spring seal is pushed down by pressure, and is released when the pressure falls to near zero.

An automatic drain has a float, that will drain when the liquid level rises enough to trip it.

Question:

What is the life expectancy specs of the AVS series valves?

Answer

Life cycle tested at two operating pressures:

  • 8 bar (116 PSI) and 1.5 bar (22 PSI)
  • Ambient temperature: 30 degC (86 degF)
  • Air quality: filtered with general purpose filter, 40 micron element
  • Valve cycle frequency: 8 Hz

Results: Valves tested correctly every 5 million cycles, up to max of 50 million cycles; no failures reported.

Question:

What does "safety" mean for the safety Quick-Disconnects/ couplers?

Answer

The "safety" models relieves/vents the downstream pressure by pulling the sleeve back. It won't release the plug until the pressure at a very low level ( a few psi), to prevent "whipping".
