Problem: Changing DirectLogic Link Settings
Solution:
This technote will solve the problem of having to re-configure your DirectLogic communication link each time you start your LookoutDirect application. Since LookoutDirect is always online you "technically" can't make any permanent link changes while the link is active; actually you are able to make link changes using Link Manager from within LookoutDirect while running but they will never save for use the next time you open your LookoutDirect process file. The best way to get around this is to make changes to your link separate from within LookoutDirect. To do this easiest you should open the C:\DirectSOFT32\Bin\CSMAIN.EXE and use its Link Manager. Below is the procedure for accomplishing a successful link change.
Step 1
Use DirectSoft to change the PLC Port setup to the new desired settings. This can be accessed by clicking on the PLC menu then selecting Setup>>Setup Sec. Comm Port.. When complete click on the write to PLC icon then click the Close button.
Step 2
Create a shortcut to your desktop for the CSMAIN.EXE program. The complete path is
C:\DirectSOFT32\Bin\Csmain.exe
Step 3
Verify DirectSoft and LookoutDirect are closed, then launch CSMAIN.EXE and click on the Link Manager menu.
Step 4
Select the link you want to edit then click on the Edit.. button.
Step 5
Select the Port tab and make the desired changes to the settings then click on the Accept button.
Note: Clicking on the Auto button will initiate the autobauding routine and the DirectLogic driver will then match its settings to that of the connected PLC port. Click on the Accept button when the autobauding is completed.
Step 6
Open your LookoutDirect process file and you will now notice that the DirectLogic driver object link matches the new settings of the PLC port.
