Now, to
the PLC and communications aspect of the new SureStep drives. We will need to
use Port 2 of the DL-05, -06, the D0-DCM, 250-1, 260 and 350 cpu's, and our
new Click plc. |
|
These have the capability of
Non-Sequence (ASCII) communications. We can also use Ports 1 and 2 of the 450
processor. We strongly recommend the use of the 06, 260 and Click |
|
plcs, as their advanced ASCII instructions make the data handling
much easier. Only the D0-DCM can be used for ASCII communications, the other
DCM modules CANNOT be used. |
|
All
communications will be RS-232, which means each port can only connect to one
drive. However, for the D0-05 and D0-06, we can add an additional DCM module
( 1 for 05, 4 for 06) |
|
and each DCM could connect to one drive,
potentially meaning that 5 drives could be connected to a single D0-06. |
|
|
ANY
and ALL motion commands / sequences should be tested first by using the SCL
Terminal Utility. By stepping thru your desired operation, you can verify
each that each |
step works successfully. This is how we
at Tech Support will troubleshoot any problems, it will be done thru SureStep
Pro and the SCL Terminal Utility. |
|
|
Once
this has been completed, then it is time to move to programming the PLC.
There are several example programs for the Fx modes of Positioning. |
|
To verify the output stringsof the PRINT
/ PRINTV / SEND examples, we strongly recommend the use of our programming
cables and the use of a PC with a Terminal Emulator |
such as HyperTerm (included in versions
of Windows EXCEPT Vista) or RealTerm. |
|
For the D0-05 and the Click, use the
D2-DSCBL and for the D0-06,D0-DCM,
250/-1 and 260, use the D2-DSCBL-1. |
|
|
|
A cable
will have to be made to go from the port 2 of the PLC's to the comm port of
the drive. It is possible to use either of our programming cables, the
D2-DSCBL ( 05 and Click) or the |
|
D2-DSCBL-1 ( 06, 250, 260) with the addition of a null
modem adapter and the supplied comm cable for the drive, to make a cable to
test communications to the drive. |
