Recommended PC requirements
GSoft will run on PCs that meet the following requirements:
- Windows 7 (32/64 bit), Windows 8 (32/64 bit), Windows 10 (32/64 bit) for Serial connections
- For Ethernet connections to drives via OPC Windows 7 (32/64 bit), Windows 8 (32/64 bit), Windows 10 (32/64 bit)
- 16-24 Mb of available memory
- 8 Mb hard drive space
- Available RS-232 serial port or supported USB to Serial Adapter
If you wish to connect to your drives over Ethernet, the following additional requirements apply:
- Operating System - You must be using Windows 7, or Windows 8 to utilize the Ethernet connections via OPC with GSoft.
- Available Ethernet port on your PC - Any Ethernet card supported by Windows should work without problem. You must have TCP/IP protocol installed and properly configured on your PC.
- GS-EDRV module with firmware version 1.1.109 or higher.
- KEPDirect OPC Server V4 with version 4.120.274 (-u or
-a) or higher for the server and Automation Direct EBC driver version 4.60.65 (-u or -a) or higher.
- Note KEPDirect OPC Server V4 is not supported on Windows 7 or higher. You must use KEPDirect OPC Server V5 if you are using a newer operating system.
- OR KEPDirect OPC Server V5 with version
5.5.103.0 or higher for both the server and the Automation Direct EBC driver
- Note: Windows 7 and 8 require the use of KEPDirect OPC Server V5 for ANY CONFIGURATION
Your KEPDirect OPC Server must be configured to connect to the desired drive before attempting to connect with GSoft. GSoft will detect the presence of the KEPDirect OPC server and offer an OPC connection option on the Connection Settings screen.
Starting with Version 3.7 of GSoft, you should use the following versions of the GS-EDRV and KEPDirect OPC Server in order to access the new drive models supported by GSoft Version 3.7:
- GS-EDRV module with firmware version 1.1.273 and booter version 3.0.120 or higher. Note that your specific drive model and firmware level may require a higher revision of GS-EDRV.
- KEPDirect OPC Server with version 4.201.359 (-u or -a) or higher for the server and Automation Direct EBC driver version 4.80.82 (-u or -a) or higher.
- KEPDirect OPC Server V5 with version 5.5.103.0 or higher for both the
server and the Automation Direct EBC driver.
- Note: Windows 7 and 8 require the use of KEPDirect OPC Server V5 for ANY CONFIGURATION
GSoft2: GS4, GS10, GS20 Series Use Only

IMPORTANT: This version is required for communications with GS4 drives with firmware version v1.4x.

GSoft2 will run on PCs that meet the following requirements:
- Windows 7 (32/64 bit), Windows 8 (32/64 bit), Windows 10 (32/64 bit) for Serial connections
- 16-24 Mb of available memory
- 8 Mb hard drive space
- Available RS-485 serial port (see USB-485M USB to serial converter)
DURApulse GS4 drives support Ethernet/IP and Modbus TCP for data acquisition and supervisory control. However, GSoft2 can currently only connect to GS4 drives via the RS-485 ports.
