| Question | I have an IP65 enclosure, what NEMA equivalent does ADC carry? |
| Answer | To answer this question, we must first look at IEC Publication 60529. It provides for a system for specifying the enclosures of electrical equipment based on degree of protection provided by the enclosure. It does not specify degrees of protection against mechanical damage of equipment, risk of explosions, or conditions such as moisture, corrosive vapors, fungus, or vermin. The difference in testing makes NEMA and IEC not identical. The user must be informed that a comparison can be made but the liability of the choice rests with them. NEMA 1 – IP20 NEMA 4X – IP65 NEMA 12 – IP52 |
